“Choose fun” is a mix released on the chinese Internet radio Shlomp.
▬ Drawing inspiration from the opening scene of the movie Trainspotting, I aimed to craft a different speech based on a dystopian world that seeks a form of resilience through fun and pleasure. The voice heard repeatedly in the mix is akin to a sermon, a rallying cry reminding us to choose to have fun in a world where everything has gone awry.
▬ Thus, the voice declares:
“In our dystopian world, ‘Choose fun’ emerged as a rallying cry from the forefront of a hedonistic revolution, a phrase echoing through the corridors of a new era. It symbolizes the pursuit of joy in a world marred by hardship. It serves as a beacon of hope in the midst of chaos, compelling individuals to seek happiness as an act of rebellion against the prevailing gloom, urging people to embrace pleasure as a form of resistance, transcending the harsh reality that surrounds them…

Choose strolling through neon-lit streets, with holographic spectacles that transport you to realms unknown, and shoes with anti-gravity soles that make every step a dance. Choose garments woven from fibers spun in zero-gravity space looms, with colors that shift like the auroras on distant planets. Choose a virtual reality headset crafted by artists who dreamt in binary code, immersing yourself in worlds where imagination transcends boundaries. Choose holographic social networks and mind-sharing platforms that make empathy the new currency. Choose reconnecting with ancient friendships encoded in the algorithms of time, believing that memories can be as eternal as lines of code. Choose the immersive pleasure of a personalized entertainment experience, where virtual reality transcends reality, and each moment is a canvas for hedonistic delight. Here’s a mix for the chinese NUTRii music platform (@nutrii-ent) with a special storytelling. Explanation below.

In classical mythology, the hero often leaves the Ordinary World to confront their first adversary. In many mythological tales, as well as in various religions, folktales, and epic poems, the hero ventures into an underworld to face their initial trial. One may recall Ulysses speaking to the shade of Tiresias or Aeneas descending into the realm of the dead to converse with the spirit of his father.
This symbolic moment is often a metaphor for a descent into oneself, a confrontation with one’s inner demons—what one fears most in the world. After the hero descends into the underworld, there is often a confrontation with malevolent spirits that must be exorcised. In Christian tradition, this was referred to as the « Harrowing of Hell. »
It is often after this point in the story that the hero returns, reborn, grown, filled with a new force. What imagery does this represent for those of our time? What if we too needed this threshold crossing, one day in our lives, to confront our own enemies, our own demons hidden here and there in the underworld of ourselves?
For over 50 minutes, you will immerse yourself in the story of a character who leaves the everyday world to descend somewhere, into an unknown place, where they will confront themselves, their own fears, their own existence… and then, after grappling with inner demons, they will find the opportunity for rebirth, having made peace with themselves. Because we are all heroes in the myths of our own lives, we sometimes need to step outside ourselves.
